Our History

Executive Service Corps of the Triangle (ESC of the Triangle) has been helping nonprofits in the Triangle area of North Carolina since 1987. The concept of a service corps of retired business and professional leaders originated with David Rockefeller who founded the International Executive Service Corps in 1966 to work overseas on consulting assignments in underdeveloped countries.

A decade later, this idea was expanded to include helping American nonprofit agencies. Today, ESC of the Triangle is proud of the 75+ active consultants working on more than 90 projects per year with area nonprofits.

ESC of the Triangle is one of approximately 22 similar agencies in the United States that are a part of the Executive Service Corps Affiliate Network (ESC-US). This relationship provides a perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing nonprofits throughout the country and allows for access to programs and services that can help local nonprofits.
